I was in the mood for something reflective, and so here is two-time Grammy winner Sylvia McNair singing with Andre Previn, “This Time The Dream’s On Me,” by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer.   Ms. McNair was one of the singers at the 2011 NYC Cabaret Convention.  Ms. McNair’s website, which includes a brief biography and discography, as well as quite a few songs on You Tube–enjoy!

Hello everyone!  Hope you had a fantastic Fourth of July (on Wednesday–it felt kind of wierd in the middle of the week.)

Thursday is the day of the week when McElrath Cabaret features some of our favorite cabaret blogs, websites or performers. Today we’re featuring an entertainment website which, while not entirely devoted to cabaret, nonetheless includes some reviews and articles on cabaret, and is called The website also has an online presence on Facebook and YouTube.  Some of the listed writers for this website include Andrew Martin, John Hoglund, Rob Lester, Peter Napolitano and Suzanne Peebles.  This appears to be a website predominantly covering New York City nightlife, although there is a link to articles about “The Other Coast” and “Nashville Notes,” both of which contain a few articles regarding cabaret.

Areas on this website that will be of particular interest to cabaret entertainers include the cabaret reviews.  Another fantastic spot on the website that I loved is the Videos section, which includes several interviews with cabaret entertainers, including Greg Marx and Roslyn Kind.  In the Interviews section, you will find one with cabaret entertainer Emily Bergl.  In the Links section, you will find helpful links to cabaret venues as well as cabaret performers.

When day is done and you are through with rehearsals and performances, I recommend that you get comfortable, pour your favorite beverage, and check out this fantastic website with fun information included for cabaret entertainers–!
