The duo of K. J. and Athena McElrath perform a classic cabaret act of piano and singing reminiscent of what you might have heard from the 1920s to the 1950s in New York’s swankiest nightspots. With a popular mix of songs from the heyday of Vaudeville, Broadway and Hollywood, they bring warmth, humor and authenticity in style, entertaining enthusiastic audiences since 1996. K. J. McElrath brings a wealth of talent and experience to his many musical endeavors, whether sharing his traditional-jazz stride-piano stylings or music directing for the stage, with performances at venues including Carnegie Hall, Preservation Hall and Carnival Cruise Lines. As an accomplished arranger and composer, K. J.’s band music is published by Kjos Music in San Diego. Athena McElrath enjoys work on the stage, be it musical theatre, Shakespeare or cabaret. She and husband, K.J. McElrath, have acted and provided music for the past two years’ Shakespeare in the Parks in Portland, Oregon, and she currently performs cabaret with K. J. in Portland and surrounding areas. She and K. J. have performed at traditional jazz festivals throughout the West Coast and Canada, counting the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee and the Penticton, British Columbia Traditional Jazz Festival among their favorites.
